Welcome, I’m Michelle. I’m a Psychotherapist and Counsellor based in Ballincollig, Cork and Online across Ireland.

I’m really glad you found your way here.

Michelle Treacy - Psychotherapist and Counsellor

I support adults (18+) through a wide range of life experiences including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationship difficulties, grief and life transitions.

I offer a neuro-affirming space for neurodivergent exploration, unmasking and authentic self-understanding. My work is informed by postgraduate training in Autism Studies, with an understanding of experiences such as masking, sensory overload and burnout.

Sometimes life can look fine from the outside, yet inside it can feel heavier, more confusing, or more difficult than we want it to be.

You may have been holding everything together for a long time - quietly coping, adapting, and pushing through while a part of you wonders if life could feel different.

I believe every person has a story. How we relate to others, experience the world, and understand ourselves is shaped by our relationships, our experiences, and the ways we have learned to cope along the way.

You might notice:

  • I feel anxious all the time and don’t know how to switch off.

  • I understand things in my head, but I can’t seem to change how I feel.

  • Small tasks feel overwhelming, even things like replying to messages.

  • My old coping strategies no longer help in the same way.

  • I’m exhausted from trying to keep everything together.

  • I care deeply about my family or career, yet feel absent from myself.

  • I’ve lost sight of who I am after years of adapting to others’ needs and expectations.

  • Something has changed in my relationship and I don’t know how to make sense of it.

  • I’ve experienced a loss or difficult event and I’m struggling to move forward.

These are not signs of failure. They may simply be ways you have learned to manage life that are no longer serving you in the same way.

I can support you in:

Understanding your emotional patterns

Reconnecting with yourself

Recognising your needs and creating healthier boundaries

Building healthier relationships

Finding more freedom in how you respond to life

My Approach

My approach is relational, integrative, and trauma-informed. I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities, including neuro-affirming practice and somatic approaches, to support your individual needs.

At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I offer a steady, respectful space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted as you are. Together, we can explore what has shaped your experiences, make sense of recurring patterns, and support you in reconnecting with yourself with greater curiosity, compassion, and awareness. You set the pace.
